Giving

For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

- Matthew 6:21

Why we give.

God is generous and so he calls us to be as well.  What we do with what God has given us shows the world where our hearts are at and helps proclaim the gospel. We want to glorify God with every area of our lives, and that includes what we do with our finances. Therefore we believe giving to be a part of our worship.  Biblically we find New Testament giving should be characterized by three marks...
Giving Should Be Sacrificial
“Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that increases to your credit. I have received full payment, and more. I am well supplied, having received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent, a fragrant offering, a sacrifice acceptable and pleasing to God.”
- Philippians 4:17-18
Giving Should Be Joyful
"Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver."
- 2 Corinthians 9:7
Giving Should Be Consistent
"Now concerning the collection for the saints: as I directed the churches of Galatia, so you also are to do. On the first day of every week, each of you is to put something aside and store it up, as he may prosper, so that there will be no collecting when I come."
- 1 Corinthians 16:1-2
