If you would like more information on following in believer's baptism, we'd love to speak with you
Why is baptism by immersion important?
Believers should be baptized by immersion to follow Christ’s example.
“In those days Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan” (Mark 1:9 ESV)
Believers should be baptized by immersion because Jesus commands it.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19-20 ESV)
Baptism by immersion is the biblical model.
“And as they were going along the road they came to some water, and the eunuch said, ‘See, here is water! What prevents me from being baptized?’ And he commanded the chariot to stop, and they both went down into the water, Philip and the eunuch, and he baptized him.” (Acts 8:36-38 ESV)
Baptism is the first step of obedience to Christ. It is a public profession of your faith in Christ declaring to the world that you have died to yourself and are now a follower of Jesus. It is a perfect illustration of your death, burial, and resurrection in Christ. It is also a personal identification with Christ and his church - the wedding ring of the Christian experience.
