What To Expect
At Central Baptist Church, we always want you to feel welcome! We want you to feel at home, like you're a part of our family when you join with us for worship. We also understand that stepping into a new place of worship can be uncomfortable for many reasons. Therefore, we’d like to make your visit, and subsequent visits, with our church family stress-free, comfortable, relaxed, and meaningful. Hopefully, the following information will be helpful to you.
1. It’s my first time here. Is there a certain door we should enter?
For your first time at Central, you are welcome to park in our main parking area behind the church off 1st Street. We then suggest that you enter through the double doors and follow the signs to our auditorium. Our greeters will gladly assist you with information and guidance at that point. Please feel free to sit wherever you like.
2. What time do your meetings begin on Sundays?
Our service begins at 10:00 am. Don’t worry if you’re late, we’ll be happy to see you even if you are running a little behind.
3. What about my children?
We LOVE children at Central. In addition to our nursery, we also provide care for elementary and preschool age children during worship. If you aren’t sure about leaving your children in a nursery, that will be alright with us. Bring them into worship with you. We don’t mind if children get fussy. Most of us are parents and we’ve been there.
4. Is there a dress-code? What should I wear?
We don’t have a dress code. At Central you will find that most folks dress much more casually than formal. We’re more concerned with the person than their clothes.
5. Will I be “singled out” as a guest?
No, we will not single you out or embarrass you. We want you to be comfortable and relaxed. Folks in our church may greet and welcome you, but we won’t draw attention to you or make you feel awkward.
6. What style of worship should I expect?
Our worship personality would be classified as “blended” with a wide blend. Our song selections include many of today’s popular worship songs as well as timeless hymns and gospel songs. Worship is accompanied instrumentally by a keyboard, guitar, bass, and drums. Worship leadership is by both a praise team and our choir. You will find our worship enthusiastic, lively, and focused on praising God!
7. Is your building handicap accessible?
Yes, we have elevators for whoever may need them. To find them simply enter the building through the double doors in the rear parking lot, then take a left upon entering the building.
8. How long will the service last?
Depending on what is planned, we are usually concluding our time of worship and teaching just after 11:15 am. Of course, this may vary on occasion.
9. I have more questions and would like to speak with someone. May I call the office?
YES, we would welcome your call! Our office number is (803) 684-4395. The office is open Monday through Thursday 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. Ask to speak with Pastor Will. Also, feel free to e-mail our office at centralbaptistyork@gmail.com, or if you wish to email the pastor directly you can reach him at pastorwillcofield@gmail.com.
